On September 28, Newton Country Club (NCC) hosted its annual charitable golf outing. Called "Chipping In For Cancer", the beneficiary of this year's event was Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is the world’s oldest and largest private institution devoted to prevention, patient care, research and education in cancer. Its scientists and clinicians generate innovative approaches to better understand, diagnose and treat cancer. For more information, go to www.mskcc.org.
80 golfers came out to enjoy a beautiful day on the golf course and more than 100 people attended the benefit dinner. Many local businesses generously sponsored or donated prizes to the event. Thanks to the generosity of all who supported the outing, $10,275 was raised for this worthy cause.
For over 20 years, the Ladies Golf Association of NCC has organized an outing to benefit a worthy charity. This year MSKCC was selected since so many people know someone who has been touched by cancer. The donation was directed to MSKCC's Patient Assistance Care Fund for those unable to afford the cost of cancer care.
